On Thursday, 20 November 2025, at 12:00 p.m., the academic community and students of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science<\/strong> had the opportunity to take part directly in the ceremonial celebrations of the Faculty\u2019s 60th anniversary. The ceremony was held in the V1 auditorium of the Regional Teaching, Conference, and Library\u2013Administrative Center building of Rzesz\u00f3w University of Technology, located at 12 Powsta\u0144c\u00f3w Warszawy Avenue. The first part of the ceremony was dedicated to the conferment of the title of Honorary Professor upon Prof. D.Sc. Eng. Kazimierz Buczek<\/strong>, Prof. D.Sc. Eng. Jacek Kluska<\/strong>, and Prof. D.Sc. Eng. Adam Kowalczyk<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Your Magnificence Rector, Honorable Vice-Rectors, Honorable Deans, Dear Professor, Colleagues, and Guests!<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

I have been granted the great honor and privilege of serving as the laudator for Prof. D.Sc. Eng. Jacek Kluska in connection with the nomination for the title of Honorary Professor of Rzesz\u00f3w University of Technology. Professor Kluska graduated from the Faculty of Electronics at Wroc\u0142aw University of Science and Technology, earning his Master of Science in Engineering degree in 1977. He received his PhD in technical sciences at the same university in 1983, and his habilitation degree in the discipline of automation and robotics at the AGH University of Science and Technology in Krak\u00f3w in 1995. He was awarded the academic title of Professor in the field of technical sciences, in the discipline of computer science, automation, and robotics, upon the recommendation of the Institute of System Research of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Warsaw in 2010. He has been continuously associated with Rzesz\u00f3w University of Technology since 1977, and for decades he has combined scientific, teaching, and organizational activities at our Faculty.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Among Professor Kluska\u2019s most significant achievements is supervising ten successfully defended doctoral dissertations, four of which were awarded distinctions, and two honored by the Minister. Five of his former doctoral students have obtained habilitation degrees. Currently, Professor Kluska mentors four young researchers, contributing to the development of the academic staff and shaping professional standards at our University.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Professor Kluska\u2019s scientific output covers a wide range of topics in the fields of automation, technical computer science, and computational intelligence. Initially, he focused on applications of expert systems based on fuzzy rules for modeling and controlling dynamic systems. Later, he developed methods for the analysis and stabilization of nonlinear dynamic systems and established theoretical foundations integrating classical control methods with fuzzy models, which resulted in a monograph published by Springer in 2009. Currently, his research focuses on interpretable systems for technical and medical diagnostics, adaptive control systems, and modern artificial intelligence methods.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The high scientific level of Professor Kluska\u2019s research is reflected in grants and projects funded by KBN, NCN, and NCBR, as well as in projects carried out in collaboration with industry. It is worth noting that he served as the manager of the University\u2019s first IT initiative, \u201cePRz,\u201d from 2014 to 2016. The practical impact of Professor Kluska\u2019s work became evident early in his career, when he developed and implemented the multi-channel digital controller Inteldigit-PI, used to control water filters at the Zwi\u0119czyca I Water Treatment Plant near Rzesz\u00f3w. The system remained in operation for approximately eleven years.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Professor Kluska delivers lectures across a wide range of subjects, initiated the establishment of the Artificial Intelligence specialization at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, and has conducted courses under the Erasmus Teaching Mobility program.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Professor Kluska\u2019s organizational activities include leading the Artificial Intelligence and Fundamentals of Computer Science Research Team in the Department of Computer and Control Engineering since 1995, serving twice as Vice-Dean for Research at the Faculty from 1996 to 2002, serving twice as Vice-Rector for Research from 2005 to 2012, holding the position of Chair of the Discipline Council for Technical Computer Science and Telecommunications at Rzesz\u00f3w University of Technology from 2019 to 2024, and serving as Vice-Chair of the Scientific Council of the Institute of System Research of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Warsaw. Professor Kluska actively participates in the national scientific community as a long-time member of the Committee of Automation and Robotics of the Polish Academy of Sciences and as a member of the Polish Fuzzy Sets Society. He is also a member of numerous program committees of international and national conferences, as well as editorial boards of scientific journals.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Professor Kluska\u2019s dedication and diligence have been recognized with numerous Rector\u2019s Awards from Rzesz\u00f3w University of Technology and with honors, including the Gold Cross of Merit, the Medal of the National Education Commission, and the Medal of Merit for Rzesz\u00f3w University of Technology.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

His attitude toward younger colleagues and students, willingness to share knowledge, great kindness, and genuine scientific passion have inspired those around him for years and strengthened the prestige of Rzesz\u00f3w University of Technology. By approving the nomination of Prof. Jacek Kluska for the title of Honorary Professor, the academic community of our University has honored a scholar whose achievements and scientific authority fully deserve this recognition. This decision is a fitting acknowledgment of his many years of dedicated work for the advancement of science, the education of successive generations of engineers, and the establishment of lasting foundations for cooperation between science and practice.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
